A dating relationship is a romantic or intimate social relationship between 2 individuals. Dating abuse is a pattern of behaviors where one person uses threats or or actually uses physical, sexual, verbal or emotional abuse to control his or her partner.


Did you know that?


  • 1 in 3 teens report knowing a friend of peer who has been hit, punched, kicked, slapped, choked or physically hurt by their dating partner.
  • Girls and women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest per capita rates of non-fatal intimate partner violence, and are the most vulnerable to domestic violence.

  • Research shows a direct linkage between youth victimization, mental health problems and delinquent behavior.
  • 92% of female offenders report being victims of emotional, physical or sexual abuse before entering the juvenile justice system.
