Darkness to Light is a national nonprofit headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina whose mission is to empower people to help prevent child sexual abuse. The Stewards of Children is a prevention training program that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.

Who is the program designed for?

The program is designed for parents, individuals and organizations that serve youth, and are concerned about child safety. Stewards of Children is the only nationally distributed, evidenced-based program proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and change child protective behaviors. Crossroad Women and Family Services has partnered with Darkness to Light to bring this program to our community.

Each attendee participating in the training will receive a training kit that includes the Stewards of Children workbook and the 7 Steps to Protecting our Children booklet.

This award-winning 2.5 hour training program consists of a DVD presentation, which includes survivor stories from (men and women), commentary from experts in child sexual abuse, adult education and law enforcement providing practical guidance for preventing and responding to sexual abuse. The interactive workbooks are designed to facilitate discussion, reinforce key concepts and serve as a resource guide.
